Project Description: $7M renovation and new building (expansion) on tightly constrained urban site.
Entering the dynamic development climate of Chicago's West Loop, Engage Civil joined the project team in designing a $7M remodel and expansion of the thriving Soul City Church on Chicago's near west side. Design team lead, Context Workshop, ushered a team seasoned in Chicago design requirements through a focused effort to materialize the vision of Soul City onto a site which includes a 25,000 sq. ft. plot of land adjoining the existing congregational building.
Civil Scope: Regulated by the City of Chicago’s stringent Stormwater Management Ordinance, the efficiently designed site features a permeable pavement driveway, underground detention, and sidewalk R.O.W. improvements, compiled in a civil package of 13 elegant drawings and 10 tailored specification sections primed for clarity and cost-control during bid and construction.
Unique Site Feature: Approximately 1,000 cu. ft. of stormwater is managed on site and infiltrated back to groundwater beneath the permeable paver surfaced driveway.
