For more than 120 years, the real estate firm of Draper & Kramer has been developing and managing properties all over Chicago. They’ve embarked on a phased plan to redevelop the Lake Meadows development, first construct- ed in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood during the 1950’s. Engage Civil serves as Civil Engineer for record for multiple projects at Lake Meadows, including a 2.2 acre re-visioning of a commercial outlet that adds several new retail venues, including the City’s first Culver’s restaurant, and major improvements to a 9-acre private park.

Managing the intricate process of designing new site utilities and grading that is both responsive to the requirements of Chicago’s Stormwater Management Ordinance and considerate of the maze of existing infrastructure on site is the primary challenge enjoyed by Engage. Site design elements include multiple parking lots, multiple drive-thru lanes, full site utilities, and stormwa- ter BMP’s including permeable pavement systems.
